“Two weeks ago KFCB raised concerns about this advert. Our Coast Regional Manager Boniventure Kioko took up the matter and gave the Insurance firm a demand notice to pull down the billboard or face charges. They protested the move through their lawyers after which I instructed our lawyers to proceed to court and obtain orders to pull the billboard down for its having obscene images and vulgar language contrary to content rating standards. We are pleased to note that the billboard has been edited to acceptable standards. Having complied with our demand and edited it to conform to the acceptable KFCB content classification guidelines, the Board will not pursue the legal action against the Insurance firm. We appeal to other organizations across the country with billboards that have been flagged by KFCB for containing inappropriate messages to comply within 14 days. Any billboard erected in a public place must be suitable for audiences of all ages and must not contain obscene images or vulgar language,” Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, MBS, CEO KFCB.
