Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, MBS, Chief Executive Officer, Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) was the Chief Guest at the Coast Region Universities and Colleges Drama Festival held at the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) on March 17th, 2018.
The CEO presided over the event and announced that KFCB will support the organizers of the Kenya National Drama Festival to compile data on the talents nurtured through the festival. He added that the compiled inventory will be used to develop the students’ talents beyond school.
“There are many students with immense talent who do very well in these events but disappear into oblivion after school for lack of support. KFCB is determined to bring change and ensure it‘s contribution to the promotion of talent in film and arts as well as preservation of cultural heritage,” Dr. Mutua said.
KFCB was among the sponsors of the event whose theme was Enhancing National Cohesion through Theatre and Film.
KFCB CEO added that Kenya is home to talent citing the globally shining stars like Lupita Nyong’o. He affirmed that the event grants students the opportunity to nurture talents and it cements Kenyan identity as a nation.
“Sports and arts are great avenues for promoting moral values among the youth,” stated Dr. Mutua in part.
Dr. Mutua stated that virtue is to be explored by all, adding that the few who seek to creep in vices and compromise will be weeded out. He reiterated that ethics are the boundaries that should confine creativity, and urged the youth to shun immorality at all costs.
Also gracing the occasion were the TUM Vice Chancellor, Prof. Laila Abubakar and the CEO Raia TV, Ann Hamberger among other guests.
