The Kenya Film Classification Board CEO Dr. Ezekiel Mutua officiated over the launch of the Morning Cloud TV on 18th April, 2019.
Dr. Mutua noted that the growth in the number of broadcasters, facilitated by the digital migration, presents opportunities to resound Kenya’s culture and moral values. According to the Communications Authority of Kenya, the country now boasts of eighty four (84) TV stations with a few more pursuing authorization. This presents media practitioners and owners opportunity to use the media to rally the society to a course, not paying undue attention to sensational content.
“Media is a powerful tool for promoting values and we must not allow such an important space to only be dominated by people setting the wrong agenda,” stated Dr. Mutua.
Also gracing the launch were the Brand Kenya Board Chair Mr. Linus Gitahi, World Vision Chair – Kenya Chair Mrs Roseanne Mugo, Digital Broadcasters Association Chair Mr Joel Karanja, Communications Authority of Kenya Assistant Director for Multimedia Services Mr Martin Ikumilu among others.
