The Kenya Film Classification Board Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ezekiel Mutua paid a courtesy call on ICT Cabinet Secretary Mr. Joe Mucheru earlier today.
The CEO was accompanied by members of the Digital Broadcasters Association, a conglomerate of broadcasters specialising in various aspects of public interest development content.
During the meeting, Dr. Mutua reiterated KFCB’s commitment to working with the private and public sector to promote compliance with the Programming Code for Free to Air Radio and Television Services in Kenya.
Commending the DBA Members for complying with the Code, Dr. Mutua said it is important to support fledgling broadcasters to contain the monopoly in media business in the country.
On his part, Mr. Mucheru challenged the broadcasters to develop sustainable business models in order to remain relevant in the highly competitive media sector.
Mr. Mucheru said the Government is working to ensure a level playing field in the sector, assuring the broadcasters of the Government’s commitment to support the media sector.
The meeting was attended by Broadcasting Principal Secretary Mr. Sammy Itemere, Diretor of Public Cmmnications Mr. Ngari Gitku, KFCB Management, among other top-ranking ICT Ministry officials.
