KFCB CEO Dr. Ezekiel Mutua today joined the Kenyan media fraternity to mark the World Press Freedom Day celebrations hosted by the Media Council of Kenya in partnership with the Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology at The Great Rift Valley Lodge, Naivasha on 3rd May, 2019.
Dr. Mutua was among the panellists in the high-level meeting of State and Non-State actors invited to discuss Media Reforms in Kenya – Policy and Operating Environment under the theme Media, Elections and Democracy.
“We appreciate the great work the media has done in championing democracy but the media needs to do a self-audit in order to better execute its role as a catalyst of social change. The question is no longer how to make the media freer, rather how to make the media more responsible. The best way to protect media freedom is to uphold truth,” Dr. Mutua said.
