Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, led the Board’s management, accompanied by Focus Beyond Imagination (FBI) Dance Crew in a meeting with the His Excellency the Deputy President William Ruto, PhD at his Karen residence on 18th June, 2019.
During the meeting, the Deputy President pledged Government’s support to the Dance crew to participate in the upcoming World Hip Hop International Awards set for August 2019 in Arizona, USA.
The Deputy President praised the Dance Crew for flying the Kenyan flag high and positioning the country as a leader in the global dance scene.
“We are supporting youth to exploit their talents, harness skills to earn a living, especially for young people engaged in sports and dance as a commercial activity,” the DP said.
The Deputy President added, “They are our brand ambassadors, we take pride in their achievements and positioning the country as a force in global sport. The youth should seize the opportunity of the creative economy, including arts, theatre and film, to express their ideas, promote local content and create jobs.”
The FBI is the only dance crew from Africa that has been selected to compete in Phoenix, Arizona Hip Hop Awards.
Formed in 2006 in Majengo area Nairobi, the FBI is an award winning dance crew that has carved a niche as the most professional dance group and placed Kenya on the international entertainment market with its captivating and impeccably choreographed dance moves dubbed ‘Digala’.
In 2018, the Sakata Season 2 winners represented the country in the World Hip Hop International Awards, and were voted the best Cultural Act in the world.
The Sakata Season 2 winners also did the “Garissa Attack Tribute” in France and won.
