Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ezekiel Mutua joined local and international renowned speakers from across the world at the 10 Edition of Fearless Summit held at Mavuno Church, Hill City Campus in Athi-River on 6th June, 2019.
Dr. Mutua gave a presentation on ‘Cleaning the Airwaves’ where he stressed on the need for clean content, upholding of cultural values, morals and national aspirations and nurturing of talents.
In his remarks, the CEO observed that the country is on the brink of a moral crisis, stressing the need to have a national conversation on the wave of moral decay.
He stated that the Fearless Summit is one of the programs that will help drive the spirited fight against moral decay.
The CEO said that leaders in all sectors must be fearless and speak against the erosion of moral values. “Leadership comes with challenges, leaders have to be brave and fearless, and we must face our fear to be able to influence positive changes in our society. We need to be fearless and authentic to retain our moral values,” Dr. Mutua stated.
The CEO also stressed on the need to utilize technology and the platforms available online to encourage the youth in the Creative Arts sector to populate the airwaves with clean and palatable content.
He warned that fame and success cannot be achieved by having a society that encourages quick fixes and shortcuts to acquiring wealth.
While encouraging young people not to give up in life, the CEO said that the youths do not need ‘Godfathers’ to succeed and achieve their dreams, adding that their backgrounds should not in any way determine their destinies.
He said that KFCB will continue to nurture and support talents through various platforms like the ‘Sinema Mashinani’ and the Kenya National Drama and Film Festival competition.
The Fearless Summit is an annual event organized by Mavuno Church where influential leaders from various sectors of the economy across the world converge to speak on the challenges facing the economies and solutions.
