Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ezekiel Mutua was the Chief Guest at Londiani Boys High School, Kericho County where he gave a motivational talk to the students.
Dr. Mutua, accompanied by KFCB staff also sensitized the students and the teachers on the Board’s regulatory mandate and the need to protect children from exposure to harmful content.
In his remarks, the CEO stressed on the Board’s commitment to engage students and schools through its Media Literacy Campaigns, to inspire the next generation of Kenyans on our collective culture, norms, values, mores and national aspirations.
He noted that school is an institution that shapes character, convictions, and offers bearing to impressionable minds, adding that KFCB is committed to working with learning institutions to inculcate moral values to learners.
Dr. Mutua, whose talk was based on the topic ‘Choices’, noted that choices have consequences and advised the students to make wise choices, work hard, be prayerful, disciplined, uphold integrity and above all write down their dreams.
“Refuse the easy way of life, work hard to achieve your vision by making your choices well. Remember choices have consequences,” Dr Mutua added.
He also urged the students to nurture their talents, stating that the Board is working with learning institutions through various initiatives like the ‘Sinema Mashinani’ to tap young talents.
At the same time, Dr Mutua appealed to the government to wipe out betting and gambling. He observed that betting and gambling is a menace and it is a ticking time bomb if not addressed as a matter of urgency.
The CEO called on Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiang’i to stand firm and wipe out the betting and gambling menace.
