The CEO of Kenya Film Classification Board Dr. Ezekiel Mutua today joined other scholars in various fields as a keynote speaker at the on-going 5th International and Interdisciplinary Research Conference at Mt. Kenya University, Thika Campus.
Speaking on “Fake News, Cybercrime and the Film Industry in Kenya”, Dr. Mutua highlighted the growth in ICT in Kenya that has increased the opportunities available for innovation and creativity in the communication industry. Encouraging responsible use and consumption of ICT, he cautioned the media against falling prey to the lure of hiding behind anonymity to use the internet as a catalyst for destruction to injure reputations and destroying careers.
Other speakers in today’s session of the conference included Ministry of ICT Secretary Dr. Katherine Getao, Blockchain and Artificial Intelligence Taskforce Chairman Prof. Bitange Ndemo, Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi, Kenya’s High Commissioner to the UK H.E. Manoah Esipisu and Royal Media Director of Strategy and Innovation Linus Kaikai.
