The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) on 12th June, 2018 launched a survey report based on research carried out by the Strategic Public Relations and Research Limited. This survey sought to establish the public’s opinion on the Board’s mandate and content classification function in Kenya.
“This report will guide the review of our legal instruments to ensure that our mandate is embedded in the law and that it reflects the realities of our time,” said Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, MBS, the Chief Executive Officer, KFCB. He added that the Board uses empirical data in decision making and development of strategies.
Present at the occasion was the Board’s Chair Ms. Gathoni Kung’u, who assured players in the Film and Broadcast industry of the Board’s commitment to working with them to realize the Presidential Big Four Development Agenda under the pillar of manufacturing. Also present were representatives from Riverwood Ensemble, Department of Film Services and Faith-Based Organizations, Machawood, Lakewood Films, the media among other players in the industry.
