KFCB Meets stakeholders drawn from the ICT sector to Discuss Child Online Protection.

The Kenya Film Classification Board has held a meeting with stakeholders drawn from the ICT sector, with an aim to find ways of protecting children from accessing harmful content online.Led by the Board’s Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ezekiel Mutua, the meeting discussed the challenges that have been occasioned by technology, with regard to exposing children to harmful content while using the Internet.

Participants in the forum, set to conclude on Saturday June 3rd , 2017 include : Maverick Digital, KeNIC, among other stakeholders in the ICT sector in Kenya.The objectives of the conference include: exploring accessibility of online content to children; establishing joint strategies of enhancing child online safety in Kenya; preparing a policy document on Child Online Safety to be escalated to the Ministry of ICT; and identifying the various opportunities of partnerships with KFCB to enhance Child Online Safety.

The collaborations will also seek to create public awareness by empowering parents and the public on the responsible use of online platforms under the Board’s Media Literacy Programme.
